Welcome to the Technology Design Team Weekly Lessons Learned! This will be a recurring feature on Friday afternoons where the Technology Design Team will share top of mind resources and learning. Each week, we will post a few key things we hope you may find useful. We look forward to sharing our learning with you.

How might my students annotate on a PDF in BLEND?
Exciting Canvas news just in time for the end of the year! Students can now annotate documents as an assignment type in Canvas. This Canvas student-facing guide goes over annotating assignment submissions in Canvas!

How can my students and caregivers translate text on a web page?
Google Chrome has translation tools built into the browser.
This video demonstrates how to translate text on a page.
Google also provides a written step set.

I am leaving the District and want to transfer ownership of some contents in Google Drive. How can I do that?
Google Drive allows us to transfer ownership of a document or folder. When transferring ownership, the previous owner becomes an editor on the document and can be removed by the new owner.
Google provides a step set for the process.

How may I support families and students who want to download an archive of student work in Seesaw?
Seesaw provides a detailed step set for downloading a .zip archive of a Seesaw journal Including all submissions. There are versions available in English, Spanish, and French.

I am graduating/retiring from Austin ISD. How can I efficiently download my Google Drive contents to take with me?
Austin ISD teachers and students have unlimited storage in their G Suite for Education account. Before leaving the district upon graduation or end of employment, it is possible for the user to download all of their Google Drive, student Gmail and almost all other Google content created by the user using Google Takeout.

Important Seesaw Reminders
Teachers will NOT BE required to archive classes this school year. This process will be completed automatically prior to the beginning of the 2021-22 school year. Teachers and families will have access to their 2020-2021 Seesaw classes through the summer.
