Welcome to the Technology Design Team Weekly Lessons Learned! This is a recurring feature on Friday afternoons where the Technology Design Team will share top of mind resources and learning. Each week, we will post a few key things we hope you may find useful. We look forward to sharing our learning with you. We look forward to sharing our learning with you.
Some of the content may be specific to the realities of Austin ISD though, we hope, much will be useful to viewers worldwide. The Weekly Lessons Learned Archive contains a list of topics from and links to previous updates.
Where can I find district curriculum resources?
The Austin ISD portal has links to various department websites where resources, planning guides, and more can be found.
Titles can be added to your Portal dashboard for easy access.
This video demonstrates the process of adding dashboard tiles.
Are there any activities for Safer Internet Day?
Safer Internet Day is being celebrated on February 8th by Minecraft Education with a new world designed to teach students about internet safety. The world, “Cybersafe: Home Sweet Hmm”, can be downloaded as well as an Educator Guide that scaffolds how to teach the lesson, provides how-to videos, a lesson walkthrough that establishes expectations and more.
Is there a set of lessons that will introduce Google creative tools to my students?
Google Applied Digital Skills is sharing Digital Learning Day With Google on Feb 22nd. Teachers can use the collection of lessons that teach digital creation tools while teachers can use whatever academic standard that is already scheduled for that day. Of course, you can use these lessons any day, not just on the Digital Learning Day event.
How can I get a co-teacher to help me teach my first lesson using Minecraft?
Minecraft Education is continuing their monthly Live Co-Taught Lessons. Register to join the Feb 26th live 60-minute lesson based on Texas standards for Motion and Energy (review!). The online certified teacher teaches all content and interacts with the participating classes while the classroom teacher just facilitates in the classroom. Watch how Minecraft is introduced, student leaders are used, and a measurable Texas Science standard is addressed. Our BLEND training course (enroll) has information, links to previous Live Co-Taught lessons and links to the registration.
