Welcome to the Technology Design Team Weekly Lessons Learned! This is a recurring feature on Friday afternoons where the Technology Design Team will share top of mind resources and learning. Each week, we will post a few key things we hope you may find useful. We look forward to sharing our learning with you.
Some of the content may be specific to the realities of Austin ISD though, we hope, much will be useful to viewers worldwide. The Weekly Lessons Learned Archive contains a list of topics from and links to previous updates.
A shared document was moved. How can I find where my Google document “lives”?
The good news is moving a document in Google does not change the link to the document.
This video demonstrates how you can find the Google Drive location for a document.
Why are my GoGuardian classes show up as Pending? How do I make them active?
This is expected. Classes that are created in GoGuardian using information from Frontline SIS will initially show up is pending. Go to the Pending list and click accept in the lower right of each class.

How can my campus get teachers into vacant courses in BLEND?
- The first, best way is to associate a teacher or longterm sub with the course in Frontline SIS. This associates the teacher and student and makes rostering happen in the textbook, IXL (when applicable), BrainPop, GoGuardian and other external tools.
- If this is a stop gap assignment, your campus administrator or a designee should have “people access” to add users to BLEND courses. If your administrator does not have “people access”, they will need to put in a TSR in ServiceNow to get access.
How can I easily message students who have not turned in work in BLEND?
- You can use the BLEND Gradebook to help you identify students who have or have not turned in work. Here is a Canvas guide on how to message all students who have not turned in work.
- To message a student (or groups of students) through the BLEND inbox, follow the steps in this video.
Jamf and Apple Classroom are now rostered for iPads!
