Weekly LEssons Learned Logo

Welcome to the Technology Design Team Weekly Lessons Learned! This is a recurring feature on Friday afternoons where the Technology Design Team will share top of mind resources and learning. Each week, we will post a few key things we hope you may find useful. We look forward to sharing our learning with you.

Some of the content may be specific to the realities of Austin ISD though, we hope, much will be useful to viewers worldwide. The Weekly Lessons Learned Archive contains a list of topics from and links to previous updates.

Why is student X not in my IXL, HMH, BrainPop, Studies Weekly, etc?

  • We have discovered several students who are not properly scheduled in Frontline.
  • Some elementary campuses are departmentalized in practice but it is not reflected in Frontline.
  • Digital resources are rostered off the scheduled core courses in Frontline.
  • Please reach out to whomever manages Frontline on your campus to get students’ schedules completed to reflect your teaching arrangement so they may get access to all of the appropriate applications and services.
  • Rosters for external tools are usually updated 24-48 hours after schedules are updated in Frontline.

I am in BrainPop but how do I get to BrainPop Jr, BrainPop Espanol, etc?

When you or your students are in BrainPop, choose a different BrainPop “flavor” from the Moby dropdown at the top left of the page. See the animation below.

Can I share my GoGuardian scenes with a colleague?

Yes! If you have a go-to Scene a fellow teacher could benefit from, now you can help them curate their digital classroom environment by sharing that Scene with them.

How can students look at their test/answers in SchoolCity BEFORE the testing window closes? We want them to reflect on their answers while it is still fresh in their mind.

  • The best way to do that is for teachers to use Feedback Cards. Here’s an excerpt from the SchoolCity and SCA FAQ:
  • Assessment results will not be released to students until after the assessment window has closed.
  • Feedback Cards (found in the Report Manager) are designed for distribution to students for the selected assessment.
    • Feedback Cards provide students with their Raw Score, Percent Correct and Performance Level.
    • It also lists the items the student answered incorrectly showing their answer, the correct answer and the standards not mastered.
    • Teachers have the option to hide the correct response and/or standards from displaying on the Feedback Cards.
    • Feedback card do NOT display the actual test item but teachers can share those with their students.

How can I support my student who is not seeing a Google assignment but sees embedded Google content fine in BLEND?

If a student is stuck in the authentication loop or is not getting the blue button in a Google assignment, they could be blocking cookies.

Look for this symbol in their browser (highlighting added):

If you see the symbol click on the lock icon to the left of the web address and click cookies.

The Cookies in Use window will show. Choose blocked then select and allow any blocked cookies.

I’d like to level up my communication in BLEND. Do you know of a one-pager?

The Technology Design Team would love to hear from you!

Please reach out to your Technology Design Specialist if you would like a thought partner or support on your blended learning implementation.

Our team has been restructured for the 22-23 school year.
